David Pickeral Scholarship Winners
VA Legacy is proud to announce the recipients of the 2008 David Pickeral Scholarship.
David Pickeral played with the Williamsburg Soccer Club. “Dave Pickeral was a great kid, a dedicated player and a true teammate. He had a massive love for the game we all play and enjoy.” Said former Williamsburg Soccer Club Director Richard Butler. Each year a $1,000 scholarship is awarded in David's name to a Virginia Legacy Soccer Club senior intending to continue their studies at college. The applicant may be male or female but must have played with the WSC for at least three years. The Board of Directors will develop and oversee an application process. A review committee will award the scholarship. The money must go towards tuition, fees, housing or books.
This year the scholarship has been awarded to Kristen Davenport and Sean Dreybus. Kristen played on the U18 Phoenix and was a standout at Walsingham Academy. Kristen will play division one soccer next year at the University of Vermont. Sean Dreybus played on the State Cup Semifinalist U18 Wizards, Warwick High School and has made the jump to be a solid contributor with the Legacy PDL team this summer. Sean will play also play division one soccer at Appalachian State in the fall. We congratulate both Sean and Kristen and wish them much success in college. A $500 scholarship will be awarded to both Kristen and Sean
