Legacy Premier Development League Team Up and Running

The Virginia Legacy PDL team is starting to gear up for the 2008 Season.  The Legacy will look to get back into the playoff picture this year after missing last years postseason by one game.

As the team begins to form under the guidance of Al Albert, former William and Mary Coach, former Legacy PDL Head Coach Bob Behncke and Legacy Technical Staff Chris Scrofani, Tim Cristian and Bobby O'Brien, the team will seem to most certainly have some familiar faces back on the field.  Last years leading scorer and PDL 1st Team All Eastern Region player Andrew Hoxie will be leading the charge again up top.  He will again be joined by St. Johns University, and local Tabb High School standout Anthony Han, as well as former Virginia Legacy Club player and Lynchburg college defender Patrick Brown.

This years player pool is full of talent and about 95% of the players have ties to the Virginia Legacy Soccer Club, Local High Schools or Local Universities.  This years team will also have a youthful look as a few current U17 and U18 players from the club will be given their shot at the next level.

Executive Director Chris Scrofani said "this years PDL team will be one of a kind.  It will be made up of a great group of kids from travel players up to some of the best college guys in the nation.   It says alot about your club/community when you can form a player pool of 25 kids to compete at this high of a level and everyone of them has ties to this area.  We are certainly looking forward to getting back into the playoff picture this year."

The Legacy's PDL season kicksoff  on the road in New York, May 10th and 11th.  They will be home to host the Hampton Roads Piranhas, last years division champions, on May 17th at the new James City County Stadium at the Warhill Sports Complex.  For more information about tickets, season passes, or being a volunteer please contact 253-1947.
