WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Legacy 76 is pleased to announce that it has signed former Virginia Legacy Soccer Club youth player and two-time All-American Jalon Brown as the team’s first-ever signing in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL). Brown, a native of Yorktown, Virginia, is currently a junior student-athlete at Christopher Newport University.
“I am very excited to play at such a high level with Legacy 76 this summer,” stated Brown. “I am thankful for the opportunity to play for a great team, train hard and ultimately get better in order to further my soccer career.”
During his first three seasons as a member of the Captains men’s soccer team, Brown has excelled on the field of play. He has started all 60 matches that he has appeared in and has scored 32 goals and provided 23 assists. After a breakout sophomore season in 2012, Brown was named the 2012 USA South Player of the Year and an NSCAA 1st Team All-American. A stellar junior campaign provided more accolades for the Grafton High School graduate. In 2013, Brown was named the Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Year and an NSCAA 2nd Team All-American.
Legacy 76 Head Coach Eric Dutt is looking forward to working with the local standout. “Jalon has grown up in the Virginia Legacy family. He started playing for our youth club as a 9 year old and now has transformed his hard work into becoming an All-American. Jalon is an exciting player to watch as he has a great combination of speed and flair. I’m sure that he will be a fan favorite this summer.”
Be sure to join Jalon Brown and all the Legacy 76 players for all of the exciting action this summer! The team begins their inaugural season in the NPSL on Saturday, May 17th with a home game against Chesterfield United. The game is scheduled to kickoff at 7:00pm at Sanford B. Wanner Stadium in Williamsburg.
