U18 Wizards advance to VYSA State Cup Final 4

This past weekend the U18 Va Legacy Wizards advanced to Champions Weekend of the VYSA State Cup Competition.  The Final 4 weekend will be held in Virginia Beach with winners from Saturdays semi-final matches playing Sunday for the state championship.

It is the first visit to the Final 4 for this group of boys but well deserved as they defeated 3 quality opponents over the past several weeks to get to this point.  In the 1st rd they defeated McLean Celtic 3-0 on 2 goals by Patrick Kelly and another by Drew Friedrichs.  In the 2nd rd they matched up against the #5 seed in the competition Beach FC and defeated them 2-1 to advance to the quarterfinals. Hunter Hartnett scored both goals for the Legacy. In the quarterfinal match the Legacy faced Va Rush whom they tied earlier in the season 0-0. After finishing in regulation tied 1-1 - Legacy scored 2 goals in the 30 min OT period to win the game 3-1.  Legacy got 2 goals from Patrick Kelly and another from Hunter Hartnett.

The semi-final match will take place this Saturday at 11am at the Soccer Complex in Virginia Beach.  Legacy will take on defending state champions and #1 seed Annandale United FC.
