
Legacy Announces David Pickeral Scholarship Winners
07/06/2010VA Legacy is proud to announce the recipients of the 2010 David Pickeral Scholarship.
David Pickeral played with the Williamsburg Soccer Club. “Dave Pickeral was a great kid, a dedicated player and a true teammate. He had a massive love for the game we all play and enjoy.” Said former Williamsburg Soccer Club Director Richard Butler. Each year a $1,000 scholarship is awarded in David's name to a Virginia Legacy Soccer Club senior intending to continue their studies at college. The applicant may be male or female. The Board of Directors will develop and oversee an application process. A review committee will award the scholarship. The money must go towards tuition, fees, housing or books.
This year the scholarship has been awarded to Stephanie Marshall and Bryan Talbert.
Bryan Talbert attended York High School:
Bryan was in the Math Honor Society, Latin Honor Society and National Honor Society. In addition to playing with Legacy he also was a 2 sport athlete at York HS and spends time volunteering with young kids through soccer and a reading program at the local library. He is in a variety of committees at school and exemplifies hard work, dedication and teamwork. He is going to attend Hampden-Sydney College.
Stephanie Marshall of Poquoson High School is an extremely organized individual who is heavily involved in a variety of organizations and committees at school. She was in the SCA, National honor society, Math Honor Society, Young Life, DECA and was the CEO of a new student orientation program at the school. She volunteers her time with local organizations outside of school and at church. She is going to attend Ferrum College.
