Legacy Announces David Pickeral Scholarship Winner

06/29/2011

VA Legacy is proud to announce the recipient of the 2011 David Pickeral Scholarship.

David Pickeral played with the Williamsburg Soccer Club.  “Dave Pickeral was a great kid, a dedicated player and a true teammate. He had a massive love for the game we all play and enjoy.” Said former Williamsburg Soccer Club Director Richard Butler.  Each year a $1,000 scholarship is awarded in David's name to a Virginia Legacy Soccer Club senior intending to continue their studies at college. The applicant may be male or female. The Board of Directors will develop and oversee an application process. A review committee will award the scholarship. The money must go towards tuition, fees, housing or books.

This year the scholarship has been awarded to Patrick O'Brien.

Patrick O'Brien-Jamestown High School:
Patrick O'Brien is an extremely hard working individual on and off the field. In addition to playing with Virginia Legacy for 10 years, he also was a 2 sport athlete at Jamestown HS and spends time volunteering with young kids through soccer in the VLSC Futures program and with various school programs.  He was a captain of the Varsity Basketball and Soccer teams at JHS. In 2010 he was named the Virginia High School AA Player of the Year for Soccer. He took a variety of AP courses and had an overall GPA of 3.7.  He is going to attend the College of William and Mary where he will continue his athletic and academic career.

We congratulate Patrick and wish him much success in college.  A $1000 scholarship will be awarded to him.
