Legacy Teams show well at Beach FC Spring Classic

03/14/2008

This past weekend the Virginia Legacy had 14 teams participate in the Beach FC Spring Classic. The tournament is held each March in Virginia Beach, VA and hosts competition from all over the state of Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey and others throughout the Eastern Region.  From the 14 participants, the Virginia Legacy had 8 teams place first or second in their age groups and were outright champions in 5 age groups.  The boys teams brought home 3 championships while the girls won 2 brackets and placed second in 3 others.

The U10 Boys East End coached by Justin Chezem, U10 Boys Academy coached by Brent Trainum, U13 Wizards coached by Ryan Haggerty, U14 Phoenix  coached by Jeff Dominguez, and the U15/16 Phoenix coached by Chris Scrofani were the Champions.  The U10 Girls Academy, U12 Phoenix and U13 Phoenix all brought home second place hardware.

In a weekend, where rain and wind shortened the matches on the second day of competition, the Legacy remained focus and unaffected by the situation in order to capture such success.  Executive Director Chris Scrofani said "This was a great weekend for the Virginia Legacy Soccer Club.  All of our teams and coaches have been working very hard in training so far this spring.  It is good to see the work pay off in such a big way on the field for our club.  It was nice to see our teams be able to transition from indoor to outdoor succesfully and hopefully we can carry this success into our spring season."

The Legacy teams will begin their spring season April 5th.
