Virginia Legacy Competition Levels

Virginia Legacy Club Event Structure: U10 - U18

Youth Academy Teams (Ages 8-10)

The Virginia Legacy Academy offers the most complete developmental program on the peninsula. The academy methodically structures training to prepare the players for success in the future. The program emphasizes technical development, which is the pillar of every player’s ability. The Academy is directed by Johnny Kamara. Johnny is in charge of all Academy and travel trainings U9 - U12 Boys and Girls. He is helped by the Virginia Legacy Academy Coaching Staff.

Elite Travel Teams (Ages 11-18)

The Elite Travel teams consist of the strongest players in a particular age group. The Boys Elite Teams are called Wizards while the Girls Elite Teams are the Phoenix. Elite travel teams play matches in the Virginia Club Champions League (VCCL) and several prestigious tournaments along the east coast. The VCCL is one of the top leagues in the state of Virginia and in 2007 was host to 24 boys and girls teams that finished in the top 4 of State Cup competition at their respective ages. For more information on the VCCL check out www.vcclsoccer.com . All Legacy Elite teams train 2-3 times per week with a match or tournament on the weekend. Elite team coaches are made up of former professional players, former and current college players and coaches and NSCAA and USSF nationally llicensed coaches.

Premier Travel Teams (Ages 11-18)

Premier Travel teams play in a competitive environment between the elite and recreational levels. The Boys Premier teams are called Legacy Red while the Girls teams are called Legacy Black. All Legacy Red and Black teams participate in the Virginia Soccer League Inc. (VSLI). The VSLI provides stiff regionalized competition from Virginia Beach, Richond and all areas in between. For more information on the VLSI check out www.vsli.org . All Legacy Premier teams train at least one time per week at the same site as their respective aged elite team. Training is often integrated between the two teams to allow for constant observation of all players in the age group pool. The Premier team coaches are made up of former and current college players and NSCAA and USSF nationally licensed coaches.

East End Legacy Program (U9-14)

The East End Legacy Travel Program is the branch of the Virginia Legacy based in Newport News, Va. The Program is directed by Christopher Newport University Men's Soccer Coach Steve Shaw. The East End Legacy are currently home to U9-U12 Boys and Girls teams with the hopes of adding U13 and U14 in the Fall of 2008. The East End Legacy plays underneath the Virginia Legacy umbrella and participates in the same leagues, event structure and offered many of the same opportunities as the Williamsburg branch.
