Virginia Legacy Developmental Soccer Programs

The Virginia Legacy Soccer Club has developed a complete program for beginning and aspiring travel players. The youth development program is methodically structured to give all players the proper learning environment they need to improve. The 1st Touch Soccer Academy introduces the game to beginning players in a fun-filled environment. Each year, players will build upon various techniques needed to succeed on the field. The Futures Academy is intended to act as the bridge between the developmental and travel programs within the club. Players will experience more structured training sessions and have the opportunity to play against other clubs while remaining in the Williamsburg area.

1st Touch Soccer Academy (2-6 yrs)

The Virginia Legacy Soccer Club is proud to launch the 1st Touch Academy at the Williamsburg Indoor Sports Complex (WISC). The Virginia Legacy has developed a program that is specifically designed for two to six year olds. The program is divided into four different age levels/classes: a 2-3 yr. old class (Lil' Dribblers), 4 yr. olds (Lil' Shooters), 5 yr. olds (Lil' Wingers), and 6 yr. olds (Lil' Strikers). Our goal is to provide a positive learning environment for your child with a focus on fun and fundamentals. As your child graduates to each program they will learn the basic skills required to be successful in soccer while gaining a better understanding of the game.

The second part of the academy will center around how to make tactical decisions as they experience small-sided play.  The Academy is a fun-filled, hands on learning environment geared towards teaching the game of soccer to everyone involved.  It is excellent for beginners and also those who aspire to take their game to the next level. Futures Select (Local Travel)

The Legacy also offers a Futures Select program in an effort to provide a higher level of competition for our youth players. Futures Select is strictly invitation only and is intended to cater to our more developed players and provide advanced training and challenging matches. Our Futures Select players, who are selected from the Futures Academy, will train two times a week.  They train as a group with our U10 Travel Academy to get more acclimated to our travel program.  All training sessions will be run by the directors of the program, Bobby O’Brien and Johnny Kamara and the group will be limited to 25 participants. Matches will also be arranged each weekend to compete against our U10 travel teams and other local U9 and U10 travel programs. The group will be submitted into a local tournament at the end of each season. The goal of the Futures Select program is to give the players an opportunity to compete at a higher level and to make the transition into our travel program much smoother.  The Futures Select season runs from April to May.
